Credit reference agencies

Credit Reference Agencies
To assess whether you are eligible for the current account for which you are applying, the bank or building society will refer your details to a credit reference agency, such as Equifax. If you think that your details are in need of updating, it is worth consulting Equifax before submitting your application form. With Equifax as with other credit reference agencies, you can view and amend your credit record as well as see how your credit rating stands.
Questions on the Application Form
Application forms vary, but in general they are broken into various sections which ask for personal details. These usually include your name and address, employment details such as what your job is, your monthly salary, in what form you receive your money, and what kind of features you would like on your account. If you are filling in an online application form, then remember that many online applications have an automatic time-out after a period of inactivity. This is done for security purposes in case your computer is unattended in a place where people could view your sensitive information.  Most banks and building societies have help at hand, for any queries relating to the form that you might have.
