General insurances

General insurances cover unexpected events such as accident, illness or theft. Products available include car, home, holiday, pet, and health coverage. These insurances only pay claims when the covered risk takes place. According to the Association of British Insurers (ABI), the insurance industry in the UK pays ₤40 million in general insurance claims daily.
Make sure to choose an insurance that meets your needs. Current health problems or belongings not left properly kept are usually not insured. Choose a policy that includes as many features as you are interested in. Policies that include various types of coverage are difficult to compare. The price is not clearly represented by the packaged benefits and quality of coverage.
Compare the annual premiums and  other conditions that might influence the price (i.e. location, job, type of car, mortgage size). Ask your broker or provider whether taxes are included in the amount quoted. Some insurance companies offer cheaper premiums when you pay through direct debit.
Consider how flexible you want your policy to be. Terms and conditions are applied differently to missed payments, cancellations and changes of provider. Don’t focus only on price. Cheaper deals are often less convenient or offer less coverage.
